Special ed spending boost seen in stimulus package

The economic stimulus package President Obama is expected to sign today dramatically ramps up spending for a broad array of social programs for needy Americans, including a long-sought increase in funding for special education.
Federal support for special education is expected to grow by more than $12 billion. All of the new spending outlined by the bill is temporary, with most slated to end after two years.
