Farewell to Special Olympics World Winter Games
February 14th, 2009
From the Idaho Statesman:
Athletes, volunteers, and the Idaho community celebrated at the closing ceremony of the Special Olympics World Winter Games Friday at the Idaho Center. Nearly 2,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and 4,000 volunteers participated in the event this past week.
“What a Games, what a week, what a time we have lived together,” said Tim Shriver, Special Olympics CEO. “Let this moment, let these Games, rock your world. Don’t just say you came. Don’t just say you watched. Let it change everything.”

I would love to have attended the Special Olympics Winter Games. I wish the networks would’ve covered them on TV. I am very pleased, however, that Vice President Biden attended a portion and I liked what he had to say (I saw it on the abc news website). Congratulations to all the athletes and congratulations to Idaho which evidently did a great job hosting the Games.
