From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Parents of St. Louis students with severe disabilities are suing the state of Missouri, asking a federal judge to close 35 state-run schools because of a “continued and persistent failure” to properly educate students.
Their accusations of abuse and neglect have been affirmed by a state inquiry panel, a decision the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking to overturn.
Parents are also asking the state to fire employees who behaved improperly, and to install cameras to monitor employees’ activities. The complaints come after a parent hid a tape recorder in her son’s wheelchair.
