Cal wheelchair basketball students mostly non-disabled
December 9th, 2008
From the San Francisco Chronicle:
More than 30 students showed up for a new wheelchair basketball class at UC-Berkeley. Only three have disabilities.
Students created the one-unit class as a salute to the school’s historical role in the disability rights movement, and are hoping to field an official team.
“Most people have no idea what wheelchair basketball is,” said Mickey Kay, one of the class’s creators. “It’s cool to give that opportunity to more people and make them aware of disabilities.”
