Massachusetts cuts funding for job service centers
November 17th, 2008From the Boston Globe:
Riverside Career Services, a Massachusetts nonprofit that provides employment and educational services to people with disabilities, will close in a few weeks unless Gov. Deval Patrick restores $683,000 in state funding.
The planned cuts are part of an effort by Gov. Patrick to cut the state budget by more than $1 billion.
Clients of the organization are lobbying to try to keep the doors open. “We need services for the disabled,” said one. “There are people who want to work and can work. We just need some help.”
