Denis Leary comments anger Emerson alumni
October 25th, 2008From the Boston Globe:
Alumni have complained to Emerson College officials about Denis Leary’s prominent role in fundraising at the school following comments in his forthcoming book that blame “inattentive mothers and competitive dads” for the rising incidence of autism.
David Rosen, an Emerson spokesman, said the college is drafting a letter apologizing to graduates who complained. He said alumni “were quite justifiably upset, but you have to look at the totality of this individual, who has done so much good for so many people.”
… “He just does very, very good work, but on this particular issue he is misinformed, far off-base and his comments were not only not true but in poor taste,” Rosen said. Nevertheless, the comedian is a “good and loyal alum,” he said.
