Blind band will be first in Rose Parade history
October 22nd, 2008From the Columbus Dispatch, Associated Press:
Students from the Ohio State School for the Blind will make history in 2010, when they become the first blind marching band to participate in the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena.
The band was formed in 2005 and has 17 members, plus about as many sighted marching assistants who help them stay in formation. Its uniforms are castoffs from another high school that got new ones.
Music director Carol Agler says she doesn’t know of another blind marching band in the country.
