I have been following this bill for over a year now and phoned/emailed our Reps in Congress as well. Many of my friends without kids with disabilities did the same because they immediately realized how important this was. October 5th is Respect Life Sunday in the Catholic Church. This came at a great time for us. Whether you are "pro-life" or "pro-choice" and whatever those terms mean to you, this is a huge step forward for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. I'd never be one for burning books, but it is time to put all those old journals & publications with old copyright dates and antiquated, prejudiced info. in some dark closet somewhere, never to see the light of day again! Congratulations to Senators Kennedy and Brownback and to all the others who supported and ultimately voted yes on this bill. And thanks to all of you who took the time to act on this! Awesome news!
