President Bush joined by his father at ADA bill signing
September 25th, 2008From the Associated Press:
In a quiet session in the Oval Office with his father looking on, President Bush Thursday signed landmark civil rights legislation that extends the reach of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The original 1990 legislation was enacted when the president’s father, former President George H. W. Bush, was in office.
The bill is is intended to reverse judicial rulings that have narrowed the broad scope of protection of the ADA, and represents a compromise between disability rights groups and business interests. Bush signed the bill without public comment or fanfare.
