You don’t have to be a conservative, god-fearing, anti-abortion republican to have, and love, a baby with Down syndrome. Maybe true liberals embrace genetic diversity and their right not to have their babies screened for perfection.
As a mother of two children with Down syndrome, Green party voter (Canadian), and proud pro-choicer, Palins’ strong anti-abortion beliefs certainly do not reflect mine.
The abortion debate and prenatal screening and selection (or should I say weeding) are two different things. It is time media starts getting that.
