Divided opinion on disruptive behavior by kids with autism

August 15th, 2008

From the Associated Press:

The case of Adam Race and others like him has laid bare conflicted feelings — among both parents of these children and other people — over how society should regard the disruptive behavior of children with autism.

The 13-year-old, 225-pound Minnesota boy was banned from church after parishioners complained that he was disruptive and dangerous. The episode …

… exposed a painful truth so politically incorrect that some people feel guilty just saying it out loud: Some autistic children can be annoying and disruptive in public.

Those whose instinct it is to excuse at least SOME institutionalized hatred against categories of people should re-read your statement that elderly care workers of intellectually disabled persons typically worry that their adult children won’t be cared for after they die.
