Sarah Palin: Possible McCain VP pick?
June 23rd, 2008
From Politico.com:
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is among three women whose names are being discussed as potential running mates for John McCain, as GOP strategists look for ways to woo disgruntled Hillary Clinton supporters. Described as a “political phenomenon” in her state, Palin is a young fiscal conservative with a popularity rating that has soared as high as 90 percent.
But it’s her personal biography, which excites social conservatives, and reformist background that might most appeal to McCain.
She’s stridently anti-abortion, and recently brought to term her fifth child — who she knew would have Down syndrome.
And they didn’t even mention that she was recently named America’s Hottest Governor by Alaska magazine.
Among Palin’s negatives: Alaska has only three electoral votes that are already considered to be solidly in the GOP column. Palin has no foreign policy credentials. And she’s largely unknown outside of Alaska.
Other women under consideration: Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina. The most-mentioned potential running mates — former Republican candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty — are all men. Who cares about foreign policy. Let the old man handle that. For domestic energy independence, this beautiful woman is a hottie!
What are you waiting for John McCain?
Go, court her to be your VP, Mr. Maverick.
If you get her nod, a honeymoon will be ready by January 2009. I will be there to serve your champagne.
And after that, do your work!
And listen to us, THE GOVERNED!
