Man with Down syndrome skydives with his dad

June 17th, 2008

From the Chicago Tribune, an extended Father’s Day feature with video on 32-year-old Casey Deegan and dad Mike Deegan of Naperville, Illinois. When Mike took up skydiving a couple of years ago, Casey wanted to do it, too. He’s now made ten tandem jumps under the tutelage of their next-door neighbor, a skydiving expert.

From the video:

Mike Deegan: I don’t think about the disability. I always think about Casey as Casey. We all have our things we can do and things we can’t. We always try to push him as much as we can into things he wants to do, and we try.
