Veterans with disabilities called ‘unemployable’
May 4th, 2008From the Fort Worth [Texas] Star-Telegram:
Support workers say the biggest obstacle facing wounded veterans is not their disability. It is their lack of employability.
“This is a massive problem in this country,” said Bob Chamberlin, president and chief executive of NISH, a national organization that seeks to find employment for severely disabled people.
… Chamberlin calls the veterans “competitively unemployable.” He said many employers believe that “because someone is missing a limb or has some kind of problem that it’s going to cost them all kinds of money to accommodate them.”
