The boy the bullies love to beat up, repeatedly
March 24th, 2008
In Dan Barry’s “This Land” column in the New York Times:
High school sophomore Billy Wolf of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has become the target of repeated bullying. Recently, he was attacked at a school bus stop by a boy whose brother recorded the assault with a cellphone camera. Why?
It remains unclear why Billy became a target at age 12; schoolyard anthropology can be so nuanced. Maybe because he was so tall, or wore glasses then, or has a learning disability that affects his reading comprehension. Or maybe some kids were just bored. Or angry.
