Op-ed: Give us answers on vaccines

March 20th, 2008

David Kirby, writing in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, takes the federal government to task for failing to adequately explain what really happened to Hannah Poling. Federal health officials recently conceded that a series of vaccines the Georgia girl got when she was 19 months old worsened an underlying condition and ultimately contributed to her diagnosis of autism.

Kirby analyzes statements by Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and concludes Gerberding “was either grossly misinformed, or lying.”

Instead of answers, we get adamant silence. This is not a matter of national security. It’s a national emergency. Millions of parents are anxiously waiting for their government to tell them what the hell is going on.
