Casey Deegan, skydiver

January 26th, 2008

From the Naperville, Illinois, Sun:

Just for fun, here’s “Learning to Fly,” a video of 31-year-old Casey Deegan learning to jump out of an airplane. Casey has Down syndrome. His dad says it’s all about having dreams and making choices.

“I love my son and I don’t want anything bad to ever happen to him,” says his dad, “but not to the point where nothing good ever happens to him, either … I don’t look at Casey first with Down syndrome. I look at Casey as an individual first, and the disability second.”
