Four young women with disabilities develop their own pet treat business
From the [Wilmington, Delaware] News Journal:
Waggies by Maggie & Friends is a Delaware venture operated by four young women with cognitive disabilities who create all-natural dog treats and sell them directly and through a website.
The baking operation was the brainchild of parents, who also provide some support. The young women work together one day a week in the commercial kitchen of a local church to produce the bone-shaped biscuits, which sell for $6 a bag.
“Our emphasis is having meaningful employment for the girls,” said Leigh Corrigan, mom of Maggie.
