Number of non-immunized children in Vt. schools doubles in a decade
October 19th, 2007From theĀ Associated Press in the Boston Globe:
Data kept by Vermont’s state Health Department shows that the number of children who have not been immunized has more than doubled in the past ten years.
The reason: parents fear that the immunizations cause disabilities, despite efforts by experts to persuade parents that the vaccines pose little risk and are far less troublesome than the diseases they are designed to prevent.
In the 1997-98 school year, about 0.9 percent of Vermont students had not been vaccinated. By last year, the number had grown to 2.21 percent.
