Special needs complicate schooling

A week before school started this year, Sherry Holland was told the private school where she had enrolled her daughter would not accept the 4-year-old because she has diabetes.
… Holland said private school officials told her God would find a place for her child. “I know my child is not the only one in Mississippi with diabetes,” she said.
Reporter Rebecca Helmes recaps challenges faced by parents of children with disabilities, and tells where parents can go for help.
For students to get the best possible education, no matter where they go to school, parents have to be advocates.
