Upcoming film: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

September 18th, 2007

Filmmaker Julian Schnabel’s adaptation of Jean-Dominique Bauby’s autobiography has stirred up a lot of buzz at the Toronto International Film Festival. It tells the story of a magazine editor who survives a coma-inducing stroke, only to find that he is completely paralyzed except for one eye. He communicates with the world in blinks. Much of the tragic comedy is told from Bauby’s point of view, with the audience seeing the world through his eye.

From the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times.

Release date: December.
